How to delete a live chat widget
Deleting a live chat permanently removes it from your OhhChats dashboard and stops the widget from appearing on your website. Here's what to expect.
Delete a live chat
Go to your dashboard at app.ohhchats.com.
Find the live chat you want to delete and click the trash icon in the top-right corner of its card.
A confirmation window will appear. Review it carefully — deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Click Delete to confirm.
Download your conversation history first
If your live chat has had any conversations, the confirmation window will offer a “Download conversations (.csv)” button. This saves your full chat history — every message, with timestamps — to a spreadsheet file on your computer.
Download firstWe recommend downloading before you delete. Once a live chat is deleted, its conversation history cannot be recovered.
What happens when you delete
- The widget disappears from your website. Visitors will no longer see the chat bubble. This usually takes effect within a few minutes (pages loaded just before deletion may show the widget until the page is refreshed).
- On the Pro plan, your subscription is cancelled automatically. You won't be billed again for that live chat. No need to cancel separately.
- Conversation history is permanently deleted. Download the CSV first if you want to keep it.
- Your other live chats are not affected.
Cleaning up afterwards (optional)
- The script snippet: the small code snippet you added to your website becomes inactive once the live chat is deleted — it's harmless and won't show anything to visitors. You can remove it from your website's HTML whenever convenient.
- The Slack app: if this live chat was connected to Slack, the OhhChats app may still appear in your Slack workspace. If you have other live chats using the same workspace, leave it installed. If not, you can remove it from your Slack workspace's app settings.
